Jos/Jero Village
Project Overview
The Jero project, situated in the Jos South region of Plateau State, is a joint venture with Chugnam Minerals of China focused on small-scale mining operations. The primary objective is to reprocess alluvial tailings containing cassiterite, columbite (niobium and tantalum), zircon sand, monazite (rare earth minerals), and titanium. This site was previously mined by British Consolidated Tin Mines in the early 1900s, and the current project seeks to recover substantial quantities of the aforementioned minerals from residual materials.
Civil works have been progressing over the past 18 months, with commissioning and operational launch planned for the first quarter of 2026. Once fully operational, the project is expected to yield more than 1,000 metric tons of cassiterite, 3,000 metric tons of columbite, 300,000 metric tons of titanium, and 500,000 metric tons of zircon sand per year.
This project site is approximately 621 miles from Lagos port and around 490 miles from Onne port in Rivers State. These ports serve as primary export terminals in Nigeria, where minerals are shipped internationally.
